"Vincentians See the Face of Christ in the Poor"

WHO ARE WE?

Members of SVDP Ministry are men and women who strive to grow spiritually by offering person-to-person service to local people in need. Our concentration is within the town of Manchester although our reach may extend beyond Manchester.  We work in concert with MACC and social service organizations that serve our community.

HOW DO WE SERVE?

Food Pantry: Through generous parish donations, we are able to collect and distribute non-perishable food items from our St. Bridget’s pantry.

Hot Line: Any parishioner or Manchester resident in need of assistance can call the SVDP phone line at 860-643-8445.  Vincentians, who work in pairs, return the call. There are a variety of requests for help such as food, rent, utilities, heat, furniture etc.  If there is a financial need a home visit is set up to discuss the needs and often includes food from our pantry. Following the home visit a plan is put in place to assist the caller whenever possible. All calls are kept confidential.

April Showers: Every April we request parish donations of Disposable Diapers, Baby Wipes, Sleepers, Onesies, Washcloths, Ointment, Baby Shampoo, Receiving Blankets, Crib Sheets, Towels, Burping Cloths, and Outfits. We make layettes for distribution throughout our community to new moms in need.

Blanket Collection:  During the winter months we request parish donations of  TWIN and DOUBLE blankets and work with St. Margaret Mary’s furniture bank to provide new blankets for the beds that are delivered to our neighbors in need.

Twinning: Through the SVdP National Council we donate a monetary gift to our brothers and sisters in Guatemala to assist them in providing for their neighbors in need and the school children of their community.
